Plate 13 starts with an image of Jupiter in a chariot. The wheels of the chariot have the symbols of Sagittarius and Pisces, both signs of Jupiter and both traveling in the same direction (so the Centers and the Vortices for Jupiter are brought into alignment).
The dragon in the flask of Plate 12 has separated (solve!) into three birds (black, white, and red). Other vignettes on the card echo the theme of transformation: the Pope crowning a new Emperor, the fermentation of a still, the banker exchanging money. These transformations are the consequences of previous actions.
Splendor Solis describes this Plate:
Secondly: The Heat is necessary, because through its power
the earth becomes freed from darkness and blessed with light instead.
With light, darkness (black) is change to light (white), so this is the beginning of the Albedo phase of the Lunar Path. Light also enables vision, so this Plate also represents awareness.
Psyche’s second task is to retrieve Black Water from the River Styx (requiring her to climb a treacherous path up a cliff). Again, Psyche despaired, considering this task impossible, but Zeus took pity on her and sent his golden eagle to assist her. The Eagle, the second symbol of Scorpio, represents transformation.
